The actual cost will vary according to the exchange rate you are able to negotiate. At the time of writing this in November 2012 the GPB (United Kingdom Pounds) to USD (United States Dollars) = 1.61 & the rate for USD to BRL (Brazil Reals) = 2.03 - therefore One British Pound is worth 3.27 Brazilian Reals - say slightly more than 3 times for easy calculation.

Some costs are in Sterling in advance so the exchange rate is not applicable but once in Brazil very few people are interested in anything except U.S. Dollars or better still Brazilian Reals. So take U.S. Dollars to cover spending money whilst in Brazil, this is to cover your share of the ground transport, any extras such as visits to markets or beauty spots, mineral water, donations, tips, meals out, personal toiletries, souvenirs and phone calls home/internet use. Exchange the U.S. Dollars into Brazilian Reals either at the airport or locally in Abadiania and in some cases in the actual Hotel where you are staying. Unless you know differently it is normally recommended to take a figure of between £100 and £130 (excluding ground transport in Brazil) for each week you are staying. The following are examples for a 2 week visit.

Note: This is obviously a considerable investment in your future wellbeing and spiritual health but worth every penny according to the many thousands who take the decision to visit John Of God. This costs many times less than private hospitalisation in the United Kingdom - of course, the N.H.S. is free but it is not easy to get treatment to suit you when you need it. No guarantees can be given and unfortunately many people turn to the Casa as a last resort but in all my years of being associated with Abadiania I have never met anyone, patient or carer, who regretted the experience.
